At Buffalo Creek Farms we raise our Persian and Himalayan cats and kittens to be as healthy as they can be. To do this we feed all of our cats a raw chicken diet with a dry food supplement. What we see is that our kittens grow better and have fewer intestinal problems, nursing mother cats better maintain their weight, less eye drainage occurs, and overall we have happier cats and kittens. We will tell you our secret to raising healthy cats (not just Persian or Himalayan cats), and tell you what each thing does to help your cat. If you want more information about keeping your cats healthy, check out our Persian Cat Health Page Here .
We feed our Persians IAMS as a dry food for two reasons. First, IAMS is easy to come by, and second, the kitties really like it. Other brands may supply more nutrients, but theyare generally more expensive, harder to come by, and not necessary when dry food is used in combination with our raw chicken recipe.
We use a raw chicken recipe (found below) that is delicious and nutritious for little kitties. We recommend feeding your kittens three times a day for a purely raw food diet, twice a day if using raw and dry food. Once your Persian kitten has grown into an adult (over 1 year old), feeding twice a day is enough.
The recipes below are a perfect raw food recipe for your kitty. Every ingredient is there specifically to help your cat's health and give him a more natural diet.
Brown rice is a non-natural ingredient, but it provides fiber and B vitamins which boost immunities. Pumpkin adds fiber and keeps fur balls to a minimum. Ground flax seeds add omega 3 fatty acids as well as fiber.
The two recipes are very similar, the second one is only modified for you if you do not own a meat grinder. If you want to purchase a meat grinder, we recommend the Tasin TS-108 Electric Meat Grinder. You can purchase one by clicking here .

Cat food recipe (Without meat grinder)
Here's an easy recipe to try if you don't have a meat grinder that will to process the bones. You can use boneless chicken meat, but be sure to add a Kitty Bloom calcium supplement to replace the missing calcium. I highly recommend mixing it together so your Persian cat will not pick out things she does not like. This can be mixed in a standard kitchen food processor or blender if you're using boneless meat. The ingredients below will lack vital vitamins for your Persian kitten if the Kitty Bloom supplements are not added, so be sure to include these.
